c.1902 Moller Organ Company Walnut Writing Desk

Beautiful old 1902 Moller Organ Company (Hagerstown, MD) pump organ that I transformed into this wonderful solid walnut writing desk.  As shown in the pictures above, this desk also has a wonderful Eastlake style walnut hutch top that goes with it.  I added a hidden walnut slide out tray that allows for a keyboard to be ergonomically used and has plenty of room for monitor(s) to be used on the desktop.  A wonderful fully functioning desk that is being used daily for a small business.

  1. It’s novel and creative I’ll admit…but I’d personally rather have seen it fully restored as the musical instrument it was intended to be. Möller built over 12,000 pipe organs…but far far fewer reed organs…So this is actually rather an historic loss. 😦

    • Jim, couldn’t agree with you more…but most of these pieces were going to the landfills and I am typically their last resort before being trashed. My hope is by repurposing them into something functional in today’s homes and maintaining as much of the original equipment on them (keys, pull stops, foot controls, etc) their historical importance will be known by current & future generations. The major challenge for most pump organ owners these days is finding someone who has the skills to restore them as a musical instrument and then willing to spend the money to restore them. Unfortunately, there are few left that are willing to pursue this route.
